12/19/25 – The Pet of the Week: MOAS

The Pet of the Week!

This week, we do not have a specific pet to tell you about.  Just know that there are several dogs and cats at The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter.  If you would like to see pictures and profiles of the animals that are available, go to www.moaspets.com, and click on the adoption tab.

As the year comes to an end, The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter would like to thank everyone who has either adopted and/or fostered one of their dogs or cats, the rescue groups have taken many of the animals from the shelter to help them find their Furever homes, the volunteers and staff who keep the shelter running, and the many businesses and individuals who have donated money and supplies.

Right now, The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is in need of donations, especially to fund their Northern Transport program. The Northern Transport Program helps transport dogs and cats from the animal shelter to foster groups in the northern United States.  As with any program, there are costs involved including transportation, medical care, food and other supplies.  This program is currently $1,300 short.  If you can donate funds to this program, please do so at https://www.zeffy.com/…/moas-northern-transport-fund.

You can also donate to the animal shelter directly at https://www.moaspets.com/donate. Since they are a 501c3 non-profit, your donations are tax deductible.  Animal supplies such as food are also welcome.  And while you’re at it, ask them about volunteer and fostering opportunities.

Operation hours are as follows: closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except for scheduled surgery appointments; open Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m.  Intakes are Wednesdays through Fridays from noon till four.  The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is located at 1888 Colbert-Danielsville Road in Danielsville, Georgia.  Their number is 706-795-2868.
