2/20/26 – The Pet of the Week: Penny

Meet Penny!  Penny is a one-year-old pit bull/lab mix.  She weighs about 55 pounds and has been at The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter for 81 days.  Penny has even spent some time in a foster home, and her caretaker describes her as an incredibly affectionate and loving girl who loves to cuddle.  She’s playful and energetic, especially around other dogs.  Penny loves chew toys, rolling on her back, and lots of attention!  However, it is not recommended Penny be in a home with cats as she loves to chase.

She can be calm when she needs to and knows commands like “sit” and “no.”  Potty and crate training are still a work in progress, but shelter workers say she will get there with patience and love.

Penny’s adoption fee is $100, which covers her age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, spay, microchip, and adoption packet..  If you would like to give Penny the FURever home she so deserves, or any of the other available dogs or cats at the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, fill out an adoption application online.  You can do so by clicking on the adoption tab at www.moaspets.com.  Or better yet, just stop by to meet her!

Operation hours are as follows: closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except for scheduled surgery appointments; open Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m.  Intakes are Wednesdays through Fridays from noon till four.  The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is located at 1888 Colbert-Danielsville Road in Danielsville, Georgia.  Their number is 706-795-2868.
