Meet Batman! Batman is a four-year-old pit bull weighing 76 pounds. He has cropped ears, a powerful build, and a striking grey-and-white coat. Workers at The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter say Batman looks like a tough guy, but underneath that strong exterior is one of the gentlest souls you’ll ever meet.
Batman came to the animal shelter as a stray. Shelter workers don’t know much about his past, but they say it’s obvious that life hasn’t always been easy for him. Batman can be nervous around men and takes a little time to feel comfortable, but every day he’s learning that there are good people in the world who will be patient with him and love him exactly as he is.
The most amazing thing about Batman is that despite whatever hardships he’s faced, he is still incredibly sweet. Once he trusts you, he becomes the biggest baby. He wants to lean against you, snuggle closely, and soak up every bit of affection he can get. He’s the kind of dog who just wants to be near his people. Ultimately, Batman’s the kind of dog who would rather spend his day cuddled up beside you than doing anything else.
Batman doesn’t know he’s supposed to look intimidating. He thinks he’s a lap dog. He thinks every soft blanket belongs to him. And he thinks love is the greatest thing in the world.
Sadly, Batman is also heartworm positive. Through no fault of his own, he now has another obstacle standing between him and the happy life he deserves. The good news is that The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter will cover the cost of his heartworm treatment. All he needs is a family willing to open their heart to him and help him through the healing process.
Batman’s adoption fee is $100, which covers his age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, neuter, microchip, and adoption packet. Operation hours are as follows: closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except for scheduled surgery appointments; open Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. Intakes are Wednesdays through Fridays from noon till four.
