Meet Lux! Lux is an 8-year-old bully breed mix who weighs 61 pounds. She arrived at The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter as a stray and is now looking for a calm, loving home to spend her golden years.
Shelter works say they think she may have been a breeding dog prior to arriving at the shelter, and now she is ready for a very different future—one filled with comfort, care, and kindness.
Lux is a gentle, sweet, and affectionate girl who has quickly become a staff favorite. She enjoys attention from people and has a calm, easygoing personality that makes her a wonderful companion. She is not dominant with other dogs and does well in their company, preferring a peaceful environment.
This lovely girl is truly a couch potato at heart and would thrive in a home where she can relax, feel safe, and simply enjoy being close to her person.
Lux is currently heartworm positive. However, her treatment will be paid for by the shelter. She just needs a family willing to give her patience, love, and a soft place to land.
Lux’s adoption fee is $100, which covers her age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, spay, microchip, and adoption packet. Operation hours are as follows: closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except for scheduled surgery appointments; open Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. Intakes are Wednesdays through Fridays from noon till four. Hours of operation could vary 4th of July Weekend, so you may want to call ahead if you decide to visit the shelter this weekend. The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is also in need of donations. You can go to https://www.moaspets.com/donate. Since they are a 501c3 non-profit, your donations are tax deductible. Animal supplies such as food are also welcome. And while you’re at it, ask them about volunteer and fostering opportunities.
