Looking for a dog that’s as unique as he is lovable? Meet Tom, a certified Dalmatian with a story that’s still being written. Tom is about three-years old and weighs 75 pounds. Originally from Texas, this handsome southern gentleman made his way all the way to Georgia, making him a rare and special find for anyone who has always dreamed of sharing their life with this iconic breed.
Tom appears to have spent much of his life outdoors, and he can be a little unsure of people at first. Shelter workers at The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter say while they don’t know everything he’s been through, it’s clear that life hasn’t always been easy for him. New experiences and gentle affection are still things he’s learning to trust, but watching his walls come down is one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever experience.
The sweetest part about Tom is that despite his timid nature, he wants to love. You’ll see him slowly inch closer and closer, curiosity getting the best of him, hoping your hand is as kind as your voice. He’ll cautiously lean in for a pet, then another, and before long, you’ll catch his tail wagging just a little bit more than before. Every small step feels like a huge victory, and Tom is worth every ounce of patience.
Underneath his cautious exterior is an incredibly gentle, affectionate soul just waiting for someone to show him what a loving home truly feels like. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t need perfection; he just needs kindness. The family willing to let him move at his own pace will be rewarded with a loyal companion who will never forget the person who gave him a second chance.

Tom’s adoption fee is $100, which covers his age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, neuter, microchip, and adoption packet. Operation hours are as follows: closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except for scheduled surgery appointments; open Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. Intakes are Wednesdays through Fridays from noon till four.
