The Pet of the Week!
Meet Bear! Bear is a one-year-old Great Pyrenees. He weighs 67 pounds and is pure white fluff and with gentle eyes.
But behind his handsome face, is a sensitive heart still learning how to feel safe in the world. Shelter workers describe Bear as a shy dog with a submissive smile. At the shelter, Bear shows his nerves with a shy, submissive smile. He play bows and does zoomies when he wants to connect. But when he’s introduced to other dogs, he sometimes “pancakes” to the ground as if to say, “Please be gentle with me.”
Bear is not the type to rush into love. He’s the type to bloom slowly in a calm, patient home, the kind of home where a family sees beyond his nervousness and recognizes the loyal guardian, the steady presence, and the best friend he is waiting to become.
Bear has been at the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter for nearly a month, and every day, shelter workers say they are seeing a little more of his true self peeking through. If you know and love this noble breed, or if you are a Pyrenees rescue who can give him the right support, please consider helping Bear find his safe place in the world.
Oh, by the way, hotdogs are the key to his heart!
Bear’s adoption fee is $100 which covers his neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines. If you would like to fill out an adoption application for Bear or one of the other available dogs or cats at The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, click on the adoption tab at www.moaspets.com.
