The Pet of the Week!
Meet Smitty! If ever there was a dog who deserves to finally exhale and know he’s home, it’s Smitty. This 3-year-old Boxer has been at the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter for about 10 weeks now. Smitty is 53 pounds of love and wiggles! He’s goofy, silly, and still has that fun puppy energy that makes you laugh every day. But once playtime is over, he’s more than happy to curl up next to you and snuggle. Smitty loves running and playing with the dogs in his foster home and even mimics what they do. It’s like he’s trying to fit in with the pack.
Like any young dog, he’s a work in progress. Smitty is mostly housebroken. He’s not a fan of being left alone without a dog or human companion, and he sometimes gets so excited he forgets how big he is and will jump up for hugs. But here’s the thing…he is not aggressive in the slightest, just a sweet boy who doesn’t know his own strength and who feels safest when he has a buddy by his side.
Smitty would do best in a home with another dog friend or three. At bedtime, when all the dogs go to their crates, Smitty happily settles down too and sleeps like an angel. Smitty is not just another dog waiting in rescue. Smitty is a jewel.
Whoever adopts him will be getting the most loyal, affectionate, and joyful best friend. Please don’t let this amazing boy keep waiting. He’s ready for his FURever family.
Smitty’s adoption fee is $100 which covers his neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines. If you would like to fill out an adoption application for Smitty or one of the other available dogs or cats at The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, click on the adoption tab at www.moaspets.com. Or better yet, just stop by to meet her.
